Regina Benjamin, MD, MBA
Title: Invited Keynote Speaker (US Surgeon General)
Regina M. Benjamin, M.D., M.B.A. is the 18th Surgeon General of the United States Public Health Service. As America’s Doctor, she provides the public with the best scientific information available on how to improve their health and the health of the nation. Dr. Benjamin also oversees the operational command of 6,500 uniformed health officers who serve in locations around the world to promote, protect, and advance the health of the American People. Dr. Benjamin is Founder and Former CEO of the Bayou La Batre Rural Health Clinic in Alabama, former Associate Dean for Rural Health at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, and immediate Past Chair of the Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States. In 1995, she was the first physician under age 40 and the first African-American woman to be elected to the American Medical Association Board of Trustees. She served as President of the American Medical Association Education and Research Foundation and Chair of the AMA Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs (CEJA). Michael Parkinson, MD, MPH
Titles: Leveraging Employers for Community Health Improvement; Practice and Policy Implications of Lifestyle Medicine
Michael Parkinson, M.D., M.P.H., FACPM is the immediate past president of the American College of Preventive Medicine. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Health & Medical Officer for Lumenos® where he was responsible for the development and implementation of an integrated and incentivized health improvement strategy. A retired Air Force colonel, Dr. Parkinson’s final assignment on active duty was associate director of medical programs and resources in the Office of the Surgeon General where he was responsible for policy and planning for a $4 billion budget. Richard Hart, MD, DrPH
Title: The President's Perspective
Dr. Hart is the President and CEO of Loma Linda University. He has also served LLU as Chair of the Department of Health Sciences, Director of the Center for Health Promotion, Chair of the School of Medicine Department of Preventive Medicine, Dean of the School of Public Health, and Chancellor and CEO. He was the first student missionary from the Adventist church to serve outside North America. He and his family later served in Tanzania for 5 years. As an intern from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, he developed the department of community health in Moshi and co-authored Child Health for midlevel health professionals in Africa. Gary Fraser, MD, PhD
Title: Adventist Health Study Update
Dr. Fraser, originally from New Zealand, is Professor of Epidemiology and Professor of Medicine at Loma Linda University. He is the Director of a series of long-term medical research projects known as the Adventist Health Study, funded by the National Cancer Institute, a research project measuring the link between lifestyle, diet, disease, and mortality among Seventh-day Adventists. He is the author of Diet, Life Expectancy, and Chronic Disease published by the Oxford University Press that summarizes the findings of the Adventist Health Studies which have broadly influenced medical science. Roger Greenlaw, MD
Title: Self-care: The New Primary Care
Dr. Greenlaw is board certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, and Holistic Medicine and practices in Rockford, IL where he has been the medical director of the Rockford CHIP program. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Greenlaw places special emphasis on the role of diet, exercise, and stress management in the care of his patients. Milton Teske, MD

Dr. Milton Teske, M.D., is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He works as an emergency physician and serves as the director of the Emergency Department at Hanford Community Medical Center in Hanford, CA. Dr. Teske is a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He did his specialty training in Emergency Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Kelly is board certified in Preventive Medicine and has a masters degree in public health epidemiology. He serves on the faculty in the Preventive Medicine Department, Loma Linda, University. Title: Love & Kale; Avoiding the Evil Trinity
Chef AJ is a consulting Chef at Exsalus Health & Wellness Center. She was the Executive Vegan and Raw Pastry Chef at Sante in Los Angeles, CA and will be soon making vegan and raw desserts for Juicy Ladies in Woodland Hills, CA. She never uses any processed ingredients (like flour, sugar, oil or salt) in any of her creations, using only fruits to sweeten. AJ has followed a plant based diet for over 32 years and for the last 10 years has taught at several culinary schools throughout Los Angeles. She has prepared food for many celebrities and television shows and also volunteers as a culinary instructor for Black Women Wellness, an organization that serves the needs of economically challenged women in Los Angeles, many who are suffering from Diabetes. AJ lives in Los Angeles with her vegan husband, Charles, who is a writer/producer, and their 2 rescued mutts Ginger & Sparky who also do volunteer work at the Sherman Oaks Burn Center. Jullianne Aranda, RD

Julianne is a graduate of Loma Linda University Nutrition and Dietetics Program, and is a Registered Dietitian with Kaiser Permanente in the Health Education Department. Prior to becoming a registered dietitian, she worked in Lifestyle Programs at Hartland Institute and Weimar. She has travelled abroad, teaching vegetarian cooking. She also worked at Maranatha Corrections, a privately owned men’s prison, that had a begun a vegetarian menu and bakery as part of their rehabilitation program.
Sally Kelly

Sally is passionate about healthful cooking and wellness. She completed her degree in Political Science at Radford University. (Radford, Virginia) She was trained in massage and hydrotherapy by Dr. Charles Thomas, a master of physical medicine known for his success with hydrotherapy. She operated a private health massage practice for women. Sally was one of the founders of The Eden Way Place vegan cafe in historic downtown Roanoke. She established and ran the vegan cafe before beginning her career in massage. She has also served as VP of Finance for a large non-profit land conservancy. Randy Roberts, DMin

Dr. Roberts was born in South America of missionary parents where he spent the majority of his early life. He has served as pastor in the Texas conference, chaplain at the Loma Linda University Medical Center, and was instrumental in establishing and leading the Center’s grief recovery program. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist and has also served as the Associate Dean for the Faculty of Religion at LLU. Pastor Harold has been the chairperson of the Adventist CHIP Association since its founding in December of 2000. He was a pastor in Wyoming and then a missionary in South America for 10 years—Lake Titicaca, Peru & Medellin, Colombia. After 25 years as hospital health educator at Portland Adventist Medical Center in Oregon, he “retired” and became a full-time CHIP volunteer. Siblings Alva, Jeremiah, and Emerald Waworoendeng will be playing for the Friday evening program beginning at 7:00 pm. They are born and raised in Loma Linda and went to school at La Sierra University. Both Alva and Emerald were music majors and are currently giving private lessons. Jeremiah is in the School of Allied Health taking respiratory therapy.

Christian Edition, a men’s chorus group, has begun their 30th year of music ministry. Their mission is to provide each listener with an opportunity for a closer walk with the Lord through songs, the Word, and prayer ministry. Their members believe that the Lord's love and the Spirit combine to make Christian Edition His ministry.
